'SYTYCD': John Tesoriero Dances To Beatbox Accompaniment (VIDEO)

'SYTYCD' Contestant Dances To Beatbox Accompaniment

The Boston "So You Think You Can Dance" auditions featured an unusual contestant -- John Tesoriero decided to forego traditional musical accompaniment and instead performed to the rhythm of a live beatboxer he had met in a subway station.

The judges were impressed -- especially by the beatboxer. Nigel Lythgoe called it “performance art at its best.” John’s entertaining audition earned him a spot in the choreography round, but sadly, not a ticket to Vegas. The judges worried that he might not be able to do anything else.

Viewers were more receptive to the routine; CarterMatt said it was “one of the strangest, but coolest, routines that we’ve ever seen” on the show, while BuddyTV approved of John's "artistic vision."

"So You Think You Can Dance" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
