"Octomom" Nadya Suleman is currently under investigation for welfare fraud after investigators received a tip claiming the mother of 14 was collecting thousands of dollars in government assistance despite having grossed more than $200,000 last year.

TMZ reported investigators from the Los Angeles County Department of Welfare Fraud Prevention and Investigation (WFP&I) are in the process of seizing bank records and other documents from Suleman to determine if she unlawfully collected welfare last year. She supposedly grossed upward of $200,000 in 2012, far surpassing the cap of $119,000 or less.

Officials plan to search the home and office of her manager, according to a warrant obtained by TMZ. Suleman faces up to three years in prison if she is eventually prosecuted.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Suleman's attorney for comment.

RadarOnline.com previously reported that Octomom received an estimated $60,000 in welfare benefits, including food stamps, even though she brought in money from pornography, stripping and other publicity jobs.

Suleman went off welfare in 2012 only to go back on it in January 2013 following a rehab stint, ABC News reported.

“She spent most of her savings while she was in Chapman Treatment center, paying for around-the-clock nannies, drivers, security and her treatment program,” her former rep, Gina Rodriguez, told the network at the time. “She does not expect to be on longer than three months.”
