Best Children's Hospitals: U.S. News Names Top 10 Hospitals For Kids

Top 10 Children's Hospitals In America

U.S. News has released their annual report of the Best Children's Hospitals. The 10 hospitals who had the highest scores in three or more specialties were put on this year's honor roll, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in Philadelphia, PA. is number one. U.S. News has also provided rankings in all 10 pediatric specialities, from cancer and cardiology to pulmonology and urology.

The results of the rankings were obtained through two surveys. A clinical one was sent to 179 institutions, many that are members of the Children's Hospital Association (CHA), and another was sent to 150 pediatric specialists who could speak to the reputations of these hospitals. A set of 1,500 doctors were also asked where they would send the sickest children for treatment in their speciality. U.S. News used factors, including patient outcome statistics and the accessibility of each hospital's resources, to calculate scores. Eighty-seven hospitals were ranked in all, up from the 80 that were honored last year.
