You would think that those who are lucky enough to be able to shop for vacation homes, would want to buy one somewhere exotic. But according to Trulia, it's good ol' New Jersey that's the hottest spot for getaways.
Ocean City in Cape May County, NJ was the number one searched zip code for vacation homes from April 2012 to March 2013. It's followed by North Wildwood, also in Cape May County, where the average house costs relatively less. Parents Magazine named the county number five in their Best Beach Towns for Families roundup.
And while some people may be surprised by this news, the director of the Cape May County Department of Tourism, Diane Wieland, told Shore News Today that she already knew it was the best. “Cape May County resorts have been listed among the top destinations with well-known and respected publications and media outlets for many years,” she said. “They have designated our resorts as top choice awards in the past and these recognitions have become a source of pride for the entire county."
So, watch out New Jersey, we're coming this summer!
