Kevin Bacon Talks About Joe Carroll's Death, Or Not, On 'The Following' (VIDEO)

Kevin Bacon On If Joe Carroll Is Dead Or Not On 'The Following'

Did Joe Carroll really die in the Season 1 finale of "The Following"? Jay Leno tried his best to get some answers out of series star Kevin Bacon on "The Tonight Show," but Bacon's an old pro at this by now. He knows how to play coy.

“You know, nobody in the show really has job security," he said. "He, uh, he disappeared -- I mean, he’s dead. Yeah. At the end of the season, he’s dead.”

Bacon admitted that he hasn't read the scripts for next year yet, so he only really knows as much as the viewers. But Hollywood Life is pretty sure that Carroll isn't dead. They just looked at series creator Kevin Williamson's other projects.

“In 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' the body in question ended up not being the guy hit by the high-school friends," they wrote. "In 'Scream,' Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette survived every possible trauma; and on 'The Vampire Diaries,' no one is ever actually dead. (Even after our funeral, Jeremy Gilbert’s not really gone).”

Fans will just have to keep speculating for a little while. Season 2 of "The Following" isn't set to premiere until midseason. To keep things interesting, Williamson told TV Guide there will be a time jump.
