James Russell Nichols & Gloria Sawyer, South Carolina Couple, Allegedly Had Sex In Boat

Apparently It's Illegal To Have Sex In A Docked Boat

Raise the mast and set sail for love -- unless you're docked at a South Carolina marina.

James Russell Nichols and Gloria Sawyer, an Aynor, S.C., couple, were arrested and charged with indecent exposure after people complained they were fornicating in a docked boat in full view of patrons -- including children -- at the Bucksport Marina in Conway, according to NBC affiliate WMBF.

According to WPDE, the marina's dockmaster received complaints about the couple's alleged activities even after he'd told them to cut it out.

Nichols denied that he and Sawyer were having sex and told police he'd only been rubbing his partner's legs because they were "sore from a medical condition," according to the report.

Hey, whatever floats your boat, but it's probably smarter to hoist the anchor and set course somewhere private before you shiver someone's timbers.

Although public fornication is generally frowned upon by law enforcement in the United States, it doesn't seem to deter adventurous couples.

Last year, police arrested a 76-year-old man and his 64-year-old girlfriend after they said they caught the man performing oral sex on the woman in a city park.

In 2011, an Indiana couple turned themselves in to police after being accused of having sex in a public pool.
