The Evolution Of Superman: From 'Superman' To 'Man Of Steel'

Superman Has Come A Long Way Since 1978

The Man Of Steel has come a long way since his appearance in "Superman," the first of the original film series that premiered in 1978. Christopher Reeve played the role of superhero in that film and its three sequels, "Superman II" (1980), "Superman III" (1983), and "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace" (1987).

After that, however, 19 years elapsed between "The Quest for Peace" and the appropriately named "Superman Returns." That film starred Brandon Routh as the last son of Krypton.

Today marks the rebirth of the superhero, yet again, with the release of "Man of Steel."

On the heels of this release, the first of the reboot series, HuffPost wanted to take a look at the evolution of Superman -- from the logo, to the special effects, and all of the action in between; to capture these changes, and to celebrate the comeback of arguably the coolest superhero. Watch "The Evolution of Superman" above.
