Dave Chappelle is finally in the house.
The elusive and mysterious stand-up/sketch comedian is headlining Funny Or Die's Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Tour, a five-weekend national tour launching in August that also features music comedy duo Flight Of The Conchords, the Daily Show's Al Madrigal, Comedy Central's Demetri Martin and more.
See below for info on the day that Chapelle and the "comedy and curiosity festival," as Funny Or Die bills it, will be in Southern California.
Ever since he walked away from his eponymous Comedy Central show (and a $50 million contract) in 2005, the comedian has been living a quiet life in rural Ohio with his family, only popping up to do last-minute, unpublicized sets at small comedy clubs.
New York Times journalist Jason Zinoman described the hustle it took to see Chappelle's stand-up show in San Francisco last March:
Tracking down Mr. Chappelle has become a comedy nerd pastime that requires close attention to social media and a willingness to drop everything and go. I heard about the shows here on Twitter the day before, bought one of the last tickets online and jumped on a plane.
The event is Funny Or Die's first large-scale comedy tour.
