A man allegedly killed eight ducklings with a broom and injured two others right in front of witnesses.
Rolando Rives, 55, was arrested Monday after the incident in Naples, the News-Press reports. Police say witnesses saw Rives killing the young ducks outside his apartment complex. Their bodies were left on the property and in the roadway.
Those witnesses were apparently reluctant to give information out of fear, according to the Naples Daily News. Officers were still able to track Rives down.
Officers rescued two of the ducklings and took them to a treatment center. Veteranarians said the little guys were 2 weeks old, ABC News reports.
Rives has a history with the law. About 10 years ago, he spent 13 months in jail after assaulting "a law enforcement or emergency responder," the Naples Daily News reports.
