Recipe Of The Day: Apricot Grunt

Related to the cobbler, this is the perfect summertime dessert.

When it comes to our baked fruit desserts, things can get a little confusing. Between the crisp, cobbler and crumble, it's hard to get a handle on what's what. And that's not even mentioning the buckle or brown betty. Now, we have another one to add to the mix: the grunt.

A fruit grunt recipe is first, a lot better tasting than it sounds, and second, a whole lot like a cobbler. The cobbler is baked fruit topped with dropped biscuits cooked in the oven and the grunt is made with stewed fruit and steamed biscuits made on the stove-top. But grunt recipes get bonus points in the height of summer because they let you avoid the oven all together without having to skip dessert.
