John Kerry Was 'Briefly On His Boat' During Egypt Conflict: State Dept.

State Department Changes Course On Kerry Boat Controversy

Boatloads of speculation surrounding John Kerry's Wednesday schedule have come to a head.

The State Department confirmed Friday that Kerry did spend part of the day on his boat while violence waged on in Egypt and President Mohamed Morsi was ousted.

“While he was briefly on his boat on Wednesday, Secretary Kerry worked around the clock all day including participating in the president’s meeting with his national security council," spokeswoman Jen Psaki said, according to Politico.

On Wednesday, a CBS News producer tweeted a claim that Kerry was aboard his yacht, the "Isabel," and uttered no response when the name "Morsi' was shouted in his direction.

The State Department denounced that claim Wednesday, saying that Kerry was "working all day" on the Egypt crisis via phone.

"Any report or tweet that he was on a boat is completely inaccurate," Psaki said in a statement obtained by Politico.
