On Sunday afternoon National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Debra Hersman said at a press conference that the pilots had made a "go around request," meaning they requested to abort the landing, just 1.5 seconds before impact.
Hersman also said the plane was flying below target airspeed before it crashed, and that a crew member made a call to increase speed 7 seconds before impact.
