'Filth' Trailer: New Irvine Welsh Movie Shines Debauchery-Heavy Light On James McAvoy (NSFW)

James McAvoy Stars In Irvine Welsh's 'Filth'

Another of Irvine Welsh's bombastic stories is making its way to the big screen, and now a new, fittingly NSFW trailer has debuted. "Filth" is the fourth film adaptation based on one of the outlandish Scottish writer's books, following "Trainspotting," "The Acid House" and "Ecstasy."

Like the others, "Filth" is steeped in drug culture and brimming with miscreants, namely Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), a misanthropic Edinburgh detective with bipolar disorder and an unshakable penchant for cocaine. The story tracks Bruce's continued mental deterioration, complete with kinky sex and violent outbursts, as clearly evidenced in the trailer.

Co-starring Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent, Joanne Froggatt and Imogen Poots, "Filth" hits theaters in Scotland on Sept. 27 and across the rest of the U.K. on Oct. 4. A U.S. release date has not yet been announced.
