Adam Kinzinger, GOP Congressman: GOP 'Has Been Very Angry,' Let's Stop Screaming On Fox News

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) believes some of his Republican colleagues could do more to control their anger, he told an audience Tuesday at an event focused on reining in the debt and spending.

“To be honest with you, the Republican Party has been very angry lately,” he said, according to the Washington Examiner.

While Kinzinger maintained that the GOP was right in arguing that Washington lawmakers needed to focus on slashing spending, he suggested that the tone some Republicans were taking was costing the party potential voters.

“When you talk to the American people, and try to bring our vision, that [President Ronald] Reagan vision of a ‘shining city on a hill,’ but you’re doing it screaming on Fox News Channel all the time, screaming and yelling on all these cable news channels and being angry, you’re not drawing Americans," said the second-term congressman.

Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) were also scheduled to deliver keynote addresses at the event. During his speech, Rubio announced that he wouldn't support any a short-term spending bill to fund the government unless it defunded the Affordable Care Act.
