Robot Backflip VIDEO Shows Tiny Robotic Gymnast Nail Quadruple Somersault

WATCH: Amazing Robo-Gymnast Aces Tough Trick

Robots have shown us some pretty amazing athletic feats, from running faster than Usain Bolt to hurling cinder blocks across a room. These robo-tricks don't always work out as planned, but that's not the case for the amazing little robotic gymnast spotlighted in this video by Youtube user hinamitetu. In the video, the little guy takes to the high bar and then completes a quadruple backflip -- and sticks the landing.

After hopping up to grab a bar, the robot kicks its legs to build momentum, then rocks back and forth until it’s spinning around the bar. Then the bot releases its hold on the bar, tucks in its body, and completes the flips before landing without so much as a wobble. An amazing feat, for sure, but it took some practice to reach perfection: check out its bloopers here.

The robo-gymnast had the Internet abuzz last March when a video of him landing a different move surfaced, but his skills have gotten even better since then. It’s hard to say when we’ll see robots competing against human gymnasts, but if history is any guide, it won’t be long.
