It was all about the fairy hippie vibe at last night's L*Space By Monica Wise show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim. With elements like fringe for a southwestern flair and gold glitter gleaming from the models' braided ponytails, the presentation was very music festival-meets-disco party. Trust us, it's a thing.
This year's suits filed out in shades of blue and aqua, yellow, orange and fuchsia and prints like python, chevron, and Navajo. Every ensemble was modeled in ankle boots, which were a much appreciated and even more realistic alternative to the sky high-heels we saw at almost every Swim Week show.
A handful of looks were accompanied with over-the-top statement necklaces that unfortunately distracted us from what was suppose to be the main attraction -- the swimsuits and resort wear. Even more distracting were the costume-like naval officer hats, some in basket weave and others were lustrous gold.
Styling aside, one area made L*Space stand out from the Swim Week pack. The resort looks, which could be worn out on the town as easily as to lunch by pool, were must-haves. Among two of our favorites were a gauzy cream open-front pullover dress and an off-the-shoulder day dress in watercolor tie-dye. It's not a stretch to imagine them at Coachella, paired with a crown of flowers.
