Mariano Rivera might not have expected this.
In the bottom of the ninth inning with the Yankees leading the Red Sox 5-2, Rivera trotted out to the mound to close out the game. A crowd of 37,601 at Fenway Park rose from their seats and gave Mo a standing ovation.

Just a few hours after striking out Jarrod Saltalamacchia to record his 639th career save and 31st of the season, Rivera received yet another round of applause -- this time at a famous local steakhouse in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston, according to the Wall Street Journal.
"At one point, it finally came to a crescendo," Fox broadcaster Kenny Albert said, who was dining at another table. "Basically the entire restaurant was clapping for him."
