A.J. Burnett Confronted By MLB Umpire During Cardinals-Pirates Game (VIDEO)

WATCH: Umpire Charges The Mound

During the sixth inning of a game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher A.J. Burnett ruffled the feathers of home plate umpire Eric Cooper by visibly contesting a call on his first pitch to Matt Holliday.

As Burnett raised his arms in frustration, the official ripped off his face mask and appeared to yell at the pitcher. That's when Pirates catcher Russell Martin intervened.

According to the Associated Press, the incident occurred just moments after a questionable call that allowed Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay to advance to second after initially striking out.
