The Colbert Report

President Obama and Hillary Clinton had a lunch meeting together on Monday, sending the cable news networks into a tizzy over what it could all mean. Stephen Colbert broke it down for viewers on Wednesday night.

"What could it mean?" Colbert sang, mocking cable news for its coverage of the lunch and in-depth analysis of implications for Clinton's possible 2016 presidential run.

"We don't know, but a total absence of facts has never stopped cable news before," he joked. "Remember we're the ones that broke the story that the royal baby was a boy or a girl and we were right."

He replayed cable news hosts picking every detail of the lunch — from the outdoor setting to Obama's short sleeves and the food on the menu — apart.

"Can I get the Cobb salad without boiled egg, blue cheese or bacon?" Colbert asked. "Oh and instead of croutons, could i get some f-cking news? Or is that off the menu? Is that not available?"
