Kalee Warnick, New Jersey English Teacher, Had Sexual Relationship With 15-Year-Old Student: Police

Rookie English Teacher Had Sex With 15-Year-Old Student, Police Say

A New Jersey English teacher has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

Kalee Warnick, 22, a teacher at Wall High School, was charged last Tuesday with third-degree aggravated criminal sexual assault and having a sexual relationship with a minor after the July 14 complaint, according to Patch. She reportedly had inappropriate contact with a male student. Further details on the alleged relationship weren't immediately released.

Warnick, a first-year English teacher who graduated from the same high school in 2008, is expected to plead not guilty, according to the New York Daily News.

Wall Township Board of Education President Eva Applegate told the Asbury Park Press that she was aware of the charges, but wouldn't comment on them.

"The board will be discussing the employee’s contract renewal in a closed session next week," Applegate told the newspaper.

Warnick was released from jail after posting $50,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 6.

A Facebook group called "Kalee Warnick is innocent until proven guilty" was created Friday in support of the teacher. By press time this morning, it had 270 members.

"Kalee is innocent until proven guilty. She has been accused and charged with crimes that do not describe her character," the page reads.
