Bethany Hamilton Married: 'Soul Surfer' Says 'I Do' To Adam Dirks

Bethany Hamilton Says 'I Do!'

Bethany Hamilton is officially a married woman!

The pro surfer and shark-attack survivor tied the knot with youth minister Adam Dirks in Hawaii Saturday. Hamilton told People magazine, "I love surfing, but getting married doesn't even compare. This was definitely the best night of my life."

The "Soul Surfer" author got engaged to Dirks in May after dating for a year. At the time, she wrote on her Facebook page, "One year ago today, I met an amazing man, now we will spend the rest of our lives together and I'm soo excited! I love you Adam!"

Hamilton's left arm was severed by a tiger shark while surfing in Kauai in 2005; she was just 13 years old. Her book, "Soul Surfer," was turned into a movie in 2011 and told the story of Hamilton's incredible post-accident comeback.
