'Extreme Weight Loss': Young Mother Lost Child Because Of Her Weight

Chris Powell helped 26-year-old Ashley bounce back from a devastating tragedy on "Extreme Weight Loss." Making it even worse for her, the tragic loss was directly related to her weight.

A few years ago, Ashley was pregnant with her first child. Because she was 200 pounds overweight, the pregnancy went terribly wrong. She delivered four months early, and the baby passed away just hours after the delivery.

“Because of me and because of my body, my mom doesn’t have her grandbaby, and my husband doesn’t have his daughter, and my sisters don’t have their niece," Ashley said. "And it’s because of me and the lifestyle that I chose.”

She was able to have a successful pregnancy following this, but she and her husband wanted more children. In order to lower the risks each time, Ashley needed to lose weight. With this motivation, and Powell's help, she was able to do just that. Over the course of a year filled with hard work, Ashley dropped more than half her body weight -- she went from 325 pounds to 161 pounds by the end.

Her husband, Jason, joined her on this challenge, shedding 170 pounds himself. Now, they're both healthier parents for the son they do have, and the future children that are surely on their way.
