Fifty years ago, thousands of Americans came together for The March On Washington for Jobs and Freedom, making it one of the largest political demonstrations in United States history.
Not only did Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. deliver his historic "I Have A Dream" speech, civilians and celebrities, both white and black, came together to demand civil and economic rights for African Americans.
As the country looks back and ponders how far we have come and where we're going, we revisit the power and promise the nation demonstrated on August 28, 1963. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the march, we've compiled photos from the day of the original demonstration below.
