Dr. Luke will not be joining the "American Idol" judges table after all, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While several outlets asserted songwriter/producer Dr. Luke -- real name Lukasz Gottwald -- would join Keith Urban and the rumored returning Jennifer Lopez for Season 13 of "American Idol," THR reports Dr. Luke's deal with Sony Music came into conflict with "Idol's" exclusive deal with Universal Music Group. According to THR, the same type of situation arose when L.A. Reid was in talks to join "American Idol" before finding a spot on Fox's "The X Factor."

Following low ratings during Season 12, "American Idol" went through an overhaul. Judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson left the series and new producers were brought in. With Jimmy Iovine leaving his mentor position with the show, there's talk of original judge Jackson taking on the role.

"American Idol" returns to Fox winter 2014.
