Hayden Panettiere Sports New Bangs On 'Late Show,' Letterman Butchers Her Name (VIDEO)

Hayden Panettiere Sports New Bangs, Gets Name Butchered By Letterman

During her appearance on the "Late Show," Hayden Panettiere pulled back the curtain on how the late night show is made while teasing its host, David Letterman. When introducing her, he pronounced her last name "Panettier-EE." It's probably a common mistake, but it was even funnier to Panettiere because of a cue card she spotted and pointed out during the interview.

The cue card read "Hayden Panettier." The "E" wasn't even put into her last name. And, as she pointed out, "There’s a big period after the ‘R.’”

Letterman apologized, but Panettiere said that it was okay, and still better than some pronunciations she's heard. "After Regis [Philbin], you can do no wrong," she told him. "He always said, ‘Hayden Planetarium.’ Every time.”

After making a few more apologies throughout the interview, Letterman closed out the segment by calling her Hayden ... Planetarium. Of course.

But all of that silly banter over her name wasn't what drew the attention of the Internet. Website after website posted about the actress' new blunt bangs.

Is this a new look for her "Nashville" character, Juliette Barnes? Fans will have to wait until the new season premieres on ABC September 25 to find out. Juliette is still rocking her traditional hairdo in the musical preview released in anticipation of Season 2.

Catch Hayden Panettiere on the season premiere of "Nashville" on Wednesday, September 25 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. Tune in for laughs on "Late Show with David Letterman" every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
