The announcement this week that "twerk" would be added to the Oxford Dictionaries Online led to a ton of conversation on Twitter, especially coming after Miley Cyrus' controversial performance at the MTV VMAs. Slate noted that the word wouldn't appear in the Oxford English Dictionary, so it might not be exactly what people were thinking, but that didn't stop the jokes.

Erin Gloria Ryan gave us all a pep talk: "Nothing in America can't be accomplished with a little talent and a lot of hard twerk."
