“Luther” ended the third episode of its third season with a shocking death.
Vigilante killer Tom Marwood shot and killed Justin Ripley, because Justin refused to let him go. The episode ended with Luther lying down next to his fallen friend.
EW interviewed the show’s creator Neil Cross, who explained that heartbreaking scene.
“Justin is the uncorrupted moral heart of the show, and I think in the fictional world of Luther — in Luther land — ultimately there is no place for an uncorrupted heart ... In Luther land, you’re punished for love and loyalty. And essentially, Justin is punished for being good, which is kind of bleak but quite moving, I think.”
Cross previously announced this four-episode season will be the final season for the show -- but teased that “Luther” could be headed to the big screen.
