Ronald Burwell III, Ice Cream Man, Accused Of Raping Girl In Truck

Ice Cream Man Allegedly Rapes Girl In Ice Cream Truck

An ice cream man from Smithfield, Penn. is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl inside the ice cream truck.

Ronald Burwell III, 27, was arrested Thursday and charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of a minor, the Herald-Standard reported.

Burwell and the girl began working together selling ice cream out of the truck for a company called F & S Ice Cream in June. The girl told police “a few days before Aug. 22 she and Burwell talked about having protected sex," according to a criminal complaint obtained by WPXI.

Days later, the complaint states, "she and Burwell went in the back of the ice cream truck and started to kiss," then engaged in sexual acts. Investigators say they found an empty condom box inside the truck.

Authorities are also investigating F & S in an effort to find out how a 12-year-old became employed with them in the first place.
