Reginald Chance, 37, was arraigned on gang assault charges related to the brutal beating of 33-year-old Alexian Lien on September 29.

Although Chance did not participate in the physical assault of Lien, prosecutors believe his act of smashing in the SUV's driver's-side window with his helmet--as seen in a viral video of the incident--allowed the other bikers to remove Lien from the vehicle and beat him.

The New York Post reports Chance has a long history of run-ins with the law, having racked up 21 prior arrests for charges that include gun possession and robbery.

Earlier in 2013, Chance faced up to 25 years behind bars for both drugs and gun charges, but a judge knocked it down to misdemeanor marijuana possession and Chance was subsequently let off on 20 days of community service.

His license was also suspended, which didn't stop Chance from participating in last week's Hollywood Stuntz ride.

More disturbing new details have emerged surrounding the assault, including the presence of off-duty NYPD officers riding with the group.

Another undercover officer allegedly stood by as the bikers beat Lien.

A new photo also reveals Lien's wife, Rosalyn Ng, was also attacked during the violent encounter, as their two-year-old sat in the backseat.

Christopher Cruz--the motorcyclist who slowed down the SUV on the West Side Highway in Manhattan last Sunday, causing it to bump into him, and setting off a high-speed chase and then the group assault of Lien--told ABC the portrayal of the story is unfair. Cruz is charged with reckless endangerment.

Edwin Mieses, the motorcyclist run over by the SUV as Lien sped away, suffered two broken legs, bruised lungs, and spinal fractures, The New York Daily News reported.
