These New Steve Jobs Action Figures Are Frighteningly Realistic

Two years and one hit biography later, Steve Jobs is still selling. The Apple founder died two years ago on Saturday, and the Japanese action figure maker Legend Toys took the anniversary as an opportunity to update its line of Steve Jobs action figures.

Yes, there are Steve Jobs action figures. You're forgiven if you mistook these for photographs of the real Jobs, since these figurines look unsettlingly real.

Suit-and-tie Steve Jobs

Capitalizing on Jobs' still growing posthumous celebrity, Legend Toys came out with its first figurine for the one-year anniversary of Jobs' death last year. This year, it has two models: a suit-and-tie version depicting a young Jobs from the late 1970s and early 1980s and another rendering a later, turtleneck-wearing Jobs in plastic glory. Legend Toys says the dolls will be on sale soon.

Turtleneck Steve Jobs

Last year, a San Jose, Calif.-based company had to scrap its plans to manufacture its own Jobs dolls after his family (and Apple's lawyers) pressured it to discontinue. It's hard to imagine those in Cupertino are happy with these ones.

On Friday, Apple itself gave its late founder a much less tacky tribute. "Steve was an amazing human being and left the world a better place," CEO Tim Cook wrote to employees. "I think of him often and find enormous strength in memories of his friendship, vision and leadership."
