Met Gala Tickets Get More Expensive To Make Event 'Even More Exclusive'

Anna Wintour Makes Met Gala More 'Exclusive,' Might Just Keep Kim Kardashian Out This Time

If you thought your chances of rubbing shoulders with fashion's elite at the Met Gala were slim last year, you probably should just admit defeat now for the 2014 affair: Ticket prices have nearly doubled.

Anna Wintour and the rest of the event's organizers have upped the ticket price from $15,000 to $25,000, reports Page Six. A source told the paper, "Increasing the ticket price will make the Met Gala even more high-fashion, even more exclusive and even more aspirational." More aspirational than $35,000 gowns and the chance to see Gwyneth Paltrow getting down to a live Kanye West performance?

Chalk it up to fashion party inflation, but we think this may just be Wintour's way of keeping folks like Kim Kardashian out of this year's gala, which will take place on May 5 and launch the "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" exhibition. Kardashian's last Met Gala red carpet appearance in 2013 launched a less-than-glamorous meme, so perhaps Wintour's hopping that the upped ticket price will deter the less serious prospective attendees. (Though we suspect $10,000 is chump change to a Kardashian.)

The Vogue editor already personally approves each guest, including each designer's dates. But hey, a $25,000 ticket price might just make that stack of invite requests a little more manageable.

Remember last year's attendees?
