Democrat Cory Booker is the next U.S. Senator from New Jersey.

Booker, the mayor of Newark, beat Republican Steve Lonegan in the special election for the seat of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who died in June. The AP called the race for booker around 9:30 Wednesday night.
