At Least One Body Found In Burning Car

A car found burning in Hialeah Monday morning was so destroyed by fire that police have yet to determine exactly how many bodies were inside.

"It's horrible," Roy Mastrapa, who works nearby, told Local10. "Everything's burnt. Car's all burnt."

Investigators are sure the remains of at least one person were found inside the four-door Mercedes-Benz sedan, which was discovered on fire around 3 a.m. in an industrial area, reports WSVN.

"The fact that the vehicle was set on fire makes everything a little more difficult," said Hialeah police spokesman Eddie Rodriguez. "The vehicle is very damaged, so right now we have to go through the whole process. We need to first identify the vehicle, figure out what kind of car it was and who it belongs to, and start from there."

Detectives are hoping surveillance cameras on nearby warehouses have captured a clue.

"The crime rate is very high in Hialeah," Mastrapa told CBS Miami. "Lately you turn on the TV and it's every day, something happens every day. You go out in the street and don't know if you're going to come back the next day, you know?"
