DeAndre Brown Sat In Jail For A Month Despite Video Proof Of His Innocence

Wrongly Accused Man Freed From Jail

A Pennsylvania man is finally free after a month behind bars for a bakery hold-up he did not commit.

DeAndre Brown says he was the victim of mistaken identity -- and has the video to prove it -- but that didn't help him avoid jail time.

The 26-year-old security guard was charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm. However, security footage shows he was at a job seminar on Sept. 10, when the Pittsburgh-area shop was robbed, WPIX reports.

“There is no way unless they’re trying to say I’m Superman, where I can be two places at the same time,” Brown, of East Liberty, Pa., told the network.

Police say that Brown, who spent a month in jail because his family could not afford bail, refused to talk with them after his Sept. 17 arrest. Brown says authorities tried to force him into a false confession.

“They wanted me to admit to it and said I could work out a deal,” Brown told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I wasn't going to say I did something I didn't do.”

Brown's attorney eventually had a prosecutor review the tape and the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office dropped the charges Friday.
