'The Blacklist': Red Teases Secret History With Elizabeth's Dying Father (VIDEO)

While revealing Elizabeth's father in his final moments on "The Blacklist" should have given us more answers about her mysterious past -- and connection to Red -- the exact opposite happened. We have more questions than ever! It shouldn't have been surprising that Red knew her father, who was actually her adoptive father. Sam took Elizabeth in at age 4.

Sam told Red that he felt he needed to tell Elizabeth the truth before he died, but Red made sure that didn't happen. After a final phone call to Elizabeth, Red smothered Sam in his hospital bed with a pillow. Is this all-but-confirming that Red is Elizabeth's father?

“Is it possible Red fathered Elizabeth with the ‘career criminal's’ wife, then career criminal abandoned said wife and Elizabeth and then Sam took Elizabeth in, all the while Reddington had his own family," wondered Zap2It's Andrea Reiher, trying to put the pieces together. "And Elizabeth, essentially, has three ‘fathers’ running around? There's a lot happening here, clearly, and we can't wait to see what's coming next.”

But Buddy TV's Ted Kindig thinks they need to just have Red admit he's Lizzy's father. "At this point, it's pretty silly to try and pretend there's any mystery surrounding Red's obvious fatherhood of Liz," he wrote. "If that really is the big, bad twist of this show, then they need to just get it out of the way at this point.”

The mystery thickens -- if it's a mystery at all -- on "The Blacklist," Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
