11-Year-Old Allegedly Kills Baby Brother, Camden Johnson, Out Of 'Jealousy'

An 11-year-old North Carolina boy is accused of killing his 7-month-old brother because he was "jealous" of the infant.

The older brother allegedly dropped Camden Johnson on his head three times while their mother, Wendy Johnson, ran an errand on November 9, according to WCNC. The boys' grandmother told the station that the older boy confessed to the crime, but also poured water on the baby's head to attempt to wake him up.

Camden Johnson died from his injuries, according to WSOC-TV. Relatives say the 11-year-old dropped the child on his head because he was jealous of the attention that Camden received from family members, according to WCNC.

"This situation is a travesty on every level.", Susan Campbell, the executive director of Council for Children's Rights, told WSOC-TV. "The 11-year-old is a baby in and of himself."

The older boy was charged with felony child abuse, while Wendy Johnson was charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse.

Wendy Johnson's mother said the charges against her daughter should be reduced because she "was not home at the time of the actual event," WBTW reported.

Charlotte police say that Wendy Johnson is partially responsible for the death because she left the two boys home alone.
