Christian Bale Provides Ben Affleck With Batman Bathroom Tip

The press junket for Scott Cooper's "Out of the Furnace" was held in Los Angeles last weekend, meaning journalists had the opportunity to ask star Christian Bale about Batman.

Bale, who had been filming Ridley Scott's "Exodus" in Spain, flew in for the press event at peak Batkid mania ("What a wonderful day for the little fella!" he told Vulture's Kyle Buchanan about the 5-year-old whose Make-A-Wish request was to turn San Francisco into Gotham City), but also found time to discuss the new Batman, Ben Affleck.

"I wish him all the best. He's a very experienced actor and filmmaker, he'll make it his own," Bale told Access Hollywood, before revealing the one piece of advice he gave Affleck. "The only thing I said to him is [to] make sure he could take a piss without anyone having to help him. It's a little humiliating."

Speaking with MTV's Josh Horowitz, Bale offered another tip to Affleck: find the voice.

"[The voice] ain't for everybody," Bale said after recounting a story of how he found his infamous Batman growl during his audition for "Batman Begins." "Ben's obviously going to have to do his own thing, but it was the only way that I could find how to get into that and to justify wearing the fricking Batsuit. Otherwise, he's just loopy beyond belief. He's loopy, but he's loopy with a method to his madness."

"Out of the Furnace" is out on Dec. 6.
