Boy With Leukemia Gets A Surprise Worthy Of The Superhero He Is

Five-year-old Antonio isn't your ordinary superhero. He can't read minds, lift cars, or fly -- his power, instead, is his unbelievable sense of humor that he displays even when chemotherapy is wearing him out. And that's as powerful as it gets, in our book.

"His smile can light up a room," Nova, Antonio's mother, told SickKids Foundation. "Even when he's feeling sick from chemo, he still cracks jokes. It's amazing."

Last year, Antonio, who is from Ontario, was treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia by specialists from SickKids. Today, he is back home with his family and makes regular trips to SickKids to receive maintenance medication. He's also starting his first full year of kindergarten, according to the foundation's YouTube page.

A year after he was first featured in one of SickKids' commercials, the foundation decided to surprise the brave 5-year-old. Antonio thought he was on a regular trip to the movies -- but that wasn't the case at all.

See what the foundation had in store for Antonio in the video above.
