Edward Snowden and Robin Roberts are among Barbara Walters' "Most Fascinating People of 2013."

Walters, who does the special every year, has named nine of the 10 newsmakers who she deems the year's most fascinating. They include Hollywood celebrities (actress Jennifer Lawrence, Miley Cyrus, Kimye and "Duck Dynasty") and more hard-hitting newsmakers (Pope Francis, royal baby Prince George and swimmer Diana Nyad).

Walters will reveal her top pick during the annual special, which airs on December 18. Last year, it was Gen. David Petraeus.

The special — which has aired every year since 1993 — will be the last for Walters, who is retiring May 2014.
