CNN Experimenting With Possible John King Show: Politico

John King Getting New CNN Show?

CNN is experimenting with a possible half-hour weekend show hosted by John King, Politico reported Monday.

"The Source with John King" would be a panel show with guests with journalists, network insiders told Politico.

Though CNN president Jeff Zucker has tinkered with some of the network's talent and programming since taking over at the beginning of the year, this is the first of his experiments involving King.

It appears that CNN is continuing to play around with its programming as Don Lemon, Brooke Baldwin and Jake Tapper are also getting trial runs this month. Lemon and Tapper are guest-hosting for Erin Burnett at 7 p.m. while she is away on maternity leave. Lemon and Baldwin will also get trial runs during the 11 p.m. hour when re-runs of "OutFront" usually air.

The new show would be a far less glamorous perch for King, who used to host "John King USA" but had that primetime show yanked from CNN's lineup last year.

King also made some major errors during his coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings earlier this year, which he admitted were a "shot" to his credibility.
