Steven Fitch Said He Had No Idea How Meth Got Into His Ice Cream

It was a sticky situation, all right.

When Steven Fitch was pulled over in Spokane Valley, Wash., on Nov. 29, deputies noticed that he had a "white, creamy-looking substance" on his hands.

There was a quart of Dreyer's vanilla caramel ice cream in the center console of the 60-year-old's vehicle. Inside of that, the deputy found a baggie that later tested positive for methamphetamine. According to police, Fitch “tried to convince [the deputy] multiple times that he had no idea how the meth got into his ice cream.”

Fitch was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, and driving with a suspended license.

KXLY interviewed Fitch in Spokane County Jail and learned that he has 24 prior convictions, five of those for drugs. He told the station that he uses meth because he has low energy, and is concerned that his rights were violated in the traffic stop.

"He found some meth in some ice cream," Fitch told KXLY. "But he didn't have no search warrant or nothing. I didn't give him permission to search the vehicle."

According to the station, the deputy had probable cause to search the car because Fitch reached into the center console when he was not asked to.

Cool story, but this isn't the weirdest place drugs have been found (although it's the most appetizing by far.)

In July, an Oklahoma woman who was convicted of smuggling drugs in her butt and hiding a gun in her vagina received a 25-year prison sentence.

"It would seem to be a very dangerous place to carry a loaded firearm," Pontotoc County District Attorney Chris Ross told KFOR at the time. "If it goes off, it's only going one place."

In October 2012, a Pennsylvania woman arrested in a drug deal gone sour was found to have 36 vials of crack cocaine hidden in her vagina.

When police busted up the drug deal and prompted the woman to get out of a car, they noticed she was "walking funny," Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood told the Philadelphia Daily News.
