Mike Pouncey: Aaron Hernandez Grand Jury Subpoena Not A Distraction

Dolphins Player Called Before Aaron Hernandez Grand Jury

Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was back at practice Friday after being subpoenaed before a Massachusetts grand jury to discuss the Aaron Hernandez murder case.

A former New England Patriots tight end, Hernandez is a former college teammate of Hernandez's at the University of Florida. Hernandez is in jail on a first-degree murder charge stemming from the killing of Odin Lloyd.

Pouncey said missing practice time won't shake his focus for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

"It wasn't a distraction at all," Pouncey said. "We're all professional football players. It's something that I had to go handle. I'm here with my football team, so I'm happy."

Pouncey recently missed two games due to a stomach illness.

"It hasn't affected my play on the field at all, so I guess that's kept me sane," Pouncey said. "The guys in the locker room have been phenomenal just getting me through this year."
