Ridley Scott Criticized For Leaving No Camels For Town's Annual Christmas Parade

Ridley Scott Criticized For Ruining Holiday Parade

Locals on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands want to add another title to director Ridley Scott's lengthy resume: grinch.

Residents in the town of Telde are criticizing Scott for renting out all the camels at a nearby zoo, leaving none for the Spanish municipality's annual Christmas parade, according to local reports.

Scott apparently rented the camels for his forthcoming biblical film "Exodus," which is currently filming on Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.

Organizers of the Three Kings Parade usually rent camels from a zoo on Fuerteventura to supply transportation for the "wise men," who will travel the streets of Telde during the holiday display. However, when Telde Councilor for Culture Daniel Martín recently contacted the zoo to secure the animals for the annual event, he was told all the camels were hired out by Scott, Spanish news agency EFE reports.

Now, parade organizers must find another solution for their transportation problem. While there may be no camels in the 2014 Three Kings Parade on Jan. 5, the show is expected to go on.

"Exodus," which is expected to be released in 2014, stars Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Aaron Paul, Ben Kingsley and Sigourney Weaver.
