Every house has a history -- but these places give that phrase a whole new meaning. Once a president sleeps somewhere, that home becomes a piece of history. That history may get lost through time, but sometimes all it takes is a kitchen renovation project or a quick look through the items left behind in the basement to discover the true pedigree of a home.

And while these homes may not quite be on the same level as say George Washington's Mount Vernon or Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, they do remind us that the White House isn't the only place a president can rest his head at night.
