How Should Parents Handle Their Teenagers' Relationship To Technology?

Just about anyone can observe that teenagers have become essentially inseparable from devices like smartphones and tablets, but what's less certain is the effect their connection to those gadgets has on their developing brains.

Deciding where to draw the line when it comes to teenagers and their tech toys is important considering the significant development that takes place during adolescence, according to Dan Siegel, executive director of the Mindsight Institute.

"The brain is changing a huge amount during adolescence. There's a remodeling going on that we're just learning about where parts of the brain are being pruned away and parts are actually being connected in a stronger way," he said.
