Men's hairstyles are already making a splash in 2014 with many famous 'dos making the news.

Bradley Cooper's tight perm in the Oscar-nominated film "American Hustle" has been getting plenty of attention, with many wondering why the legendary 1970s hairstyles weren't nominated. Actor Jared Leto has been sporting an impressive "man bun" as has Joaquin Phoenix. New York Magazine writer Allison Davis even recently penned "A Shameless Love Letter to the Sexual Power of the Man-Bun."

"When I see a flowing man-mane, even Jared Leto’s pristine, ombré bun, I can’t help but think of an unhinged, but still erotic, Healthcliff, roaming the moors," Davis wrote.

While Davis makes a compelling argument for the many virtues of a flowing man-mane, not everyone is sold on it. We recently took to Facebook to ask our readers what they really think of the new trend for post 50s. It turns out for the most part they didn't share the same sentiment.

Well everyone's entitled to their opinion. But here at post 50 we certainly feel there are some men who can rock long locks. Here's evidence that long hair on men can be sexy.

Yep, if you look closely, you'll see our favorite boomer is not only rocking long locks but also a ponytail. Brad has often experimented with longer hair, often for his film roles, including his blonde 'do in "Interview with the Vampire" and even for a more rugged look in "Legends of the Fall." Add this to our long list of things we love about Brad.
Johnny Depp

We're not sure Johnny could work his "Jack Sparrow" dreads on the daily, but the medium man-bob sure suits him. Depp has often experimented with different hairstyles for his films, with many roles requiring all sorts of quirky 'dos. From mid-length unruly tresses with a silver streak in "Sweeney Todd," to a jet black scraggly mop in "Edward Scissorhands," Depp is a true hair chameleon.
Fabio

Admit it. The Italian stallion was the inspiration of your fantasies throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Our reader Pam Jessurun Williams agrees. "Fabio. That is all," she said. Fabio has made a career for himself with his trademark flowing mane and is still working it at 54 without the slightest hint of gray. When asked by Vice Magazine if he thinks he need a haircut, he simply responded: "No, some men are made for short hair. Other men are made for long hair. They’re wilder." Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Viggo Mortensen

We love him as the sword-wielding, swashbuckling Aragorn in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, and it turns out he's just as sexy in real life. Often rocking a middle-part and with a hint of gray, we think Viggo exemplifies wearing long hair with class.
Antonio Banderas

Reader Frank Soos thinks Antonio Banderas looks good with long hair. He's grown out his hair for roles in "Interview with the Vampire" and had an impressive ponytail in "Desperado." Banderas sported longer hair throughout 2007 often wearing it in a man pony. We're not sure who else could pull off a slicked off bun like him. Kudos.
