Dealing With Criticism, From Sherri Shepherd (VIDEO)

Since Sherri Shepherd, Emmy Award-Winning Cohost of The View, is a public figure constantly in the limelight, she’s learned some excellent coping mechanisms for dealing with criticism.

“Joy Behar once said to me, ‘As soon as you open your mouth, you're going to lose half of your audience,’ and it’s true," said Sherri. “But people who know my heart, they know me, and I don’t have time for everyone else.”

When it comes to criticism generated by her opinions expressed on The View, Sherri has to keep in mind exactly what she was hired for: to give her opinion! “People write in and say, ‘I wish Sherri would shut up.’ If I shut up, I would lose my job!” she laughed.

The key to Sherri taking criticism constructively is to get her validation from people who know her well, like her husband and son. “As long as I can look my husband and son in the eye, I'm good. I'm very spiritual. I only have to please an audience of one,” she added.
