MTV Orders 'Jersey Shore' In Mexico, 'Mexico Shore'

MTV Orders Mexican Version of 'Jersey Shore'

Just when you thought you'd escaped the whole "Jersey Shore" thing, MTV tries to reel you back in.

MTV Latin America is developing a Mexican version of the New Jersey-based show, The Hollywood Reporter learned. "Mexico Shore," which is a working title, will premiere the first of its 13 episodes in September, but the exact location has yet to be announced.

This isn't MTV's first attempt at bringing "Jersey Shore" to the global masses. A British version, "Geordie Shore," set in Newcastle, was extremely popular during its seven seasons. The Spanish version, "Gandia Shore," debuted in October 2012 with a second season currently in production. Oh, and let's not forget when the original "Jersey Shore" cast trekked to Italy.

Both the British and Spanish versions attracted over 1 million viewers at their high points. But the original "Jersey Shore" finale was the least-watched in the franchise's history. At its peak, it averaged around 8.5 million viewers, but only 3.1 million tuned in for the finale.

"Mexico Shore" has yet to cast its stars, but we can hope for a duo as dynamic as JWoww and Snooki.

THR also reports that "Ridiculousness," based on viral videos, will have a Mexican version too, called "Ridiculousness Mexico," of course.
