Cooking Channel host and famed mixologist Darryl Robinson was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment. He was 50 years old.
Robinson, the former host of "Drink Up," was found unconscious and unresponsive Wednesday (Feb. 5) in a bedroom on the second floor of his home in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, authorities told CBSNY. A friend called the police after being unable to get in touch with Robinson.
There were not immediate signs of trauma, and no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found at the scene, the New York Post reported. A cause of death has not been revealed.
"At learning of the sad news, our thoughts go out to Darryl's family & friends," a spokesperson for the Cooking Channel said in a statement via "Entertainment Tonight."
His assistant, Monique Love, posted a message to his Facebook about the death.
"I'm so sad about Darryl's passing. He was an AMAZING person who touched so many lives," she wrote. "I will keep you posted on the details regarding his memorial service. I know Darryl is looking down on us all with a huge smile on his face, knowing how loved he was. We will all miss him."
Robinson, otherwise known as "Dr. Mixologist," moved to New York after college, according to his Cooking Channel bio. In 2005, he joined the Hudson Bar at the Hudson Hotel. "Drink Up" premiered in 2010 and repeats continue to air. He also appeared on shows like "Access Hollywood" and "The Wendy Williams Show."
