Good Samaritan Has Moving Reunion With Woman She Saved From Car Wreck 25 Years Ago

Surprise Reunion Between A Good Samaritan And The Woman She Saved As A Baby 25 Years Ago

Twenty-five years ago, a mother and her baby nearly died in a car accident on a highway in California after being hit by a drunk driver. Passerby Shelly Cumley made sure that didn't happen.

Cumley, a Seattle resident, had been driving with a friend when they came across the immediate aftermath of the accident, News 10 reported. When she approached one of the cars, she found a severely injured Roanna Farley and her 7-month-old daughter, Nicole, in the backseat.

"I reached in and grabbed Nicole, she looked perfect," Cumley recalled to the news outlet. "I held her up to Roanna and said, 'Look, here is your baby she's fine, she's beautiful.'"

Cumley traveled to the hospital in an ambulance with baby Nicole and waited with her until Roanna's family arrived.

Thankfully, both Roanna and Nicole survived, but a spinal injury has left Nicole "without sensation or control" from her armpits down, according to a YouTube video she posted in October.

"You can imagine how my life changed that day," Nicole writes in the video, "but my story isn't just about the pain. It's about faith, hope, love and trust in the face of tragedy."

By a twist of fate, Cumley came across Nicole's video while looking through GodVine.com, a website that regularly shares inspirational stories.

In shock, she reached out to Nicole, and they planned to meet this March. But Nicole, Roanna and News10 decided to surprise Cumley and bump that reunion to mid-February. In the video above, you can see the wonderful reunion.

"I feel like it's an absolute fairytale," Nicole, now 26, says in the clip. "It's something Hollywood writes and I feel like I'm in a movie."

Nicole now is a public speaker who uses her story to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and also to inspire people who have faced challenges like hers, according to her public Facebook page.
